۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
