AND CALL to mind Our servant Job, [how it was] when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Behold, Satan has afflicted me with [utter] weariness and suffering!" 41 (And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink. 42 And We gave him his family and the like of them with them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to those possessed of understanding. 43 [And finally We told him:] "Now take in thy hand a small bunch of grass, and strike therewith, and thou wilt not break thine oath!" for, verily, We found him full of patience in adversity: how excellent a servant [of Ours,] who, behold, would always turn unto Us! 44 And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision. 45 for, verily, We purified them by means of a thought most pure: the remembrance of the life to come. 46 and in Our sight they are of the chosen, the excellent. 47 And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. All are of the chosen. 48 This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return -- 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, 51 ۞ And with them are those of modest gaze, companions. 52 This is the promise being given to you, for the Day of Reckoning. 53 Indeed this is Our sustenance, which will never end. 54 All this (is for the God-fearing). But for the transgressors, an evil resort awaits them -- 55 Hell, wherein they roast: a wretched couch. 56 All of this; so let them taste it, boiling water and pus, 57 and other sufferings of the kind. 58 This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They say: Nay, but you (misleaders), for you there is no word of welcome. Ye prepared this for us (by your misleading). Now hapless is the plight. 60 They will continue saying, "Lord, double the torment of fire for those who led us into this. 61 And they will say: "What is the matter with us that we see not men whom we used to count among the bad ones?" 62 Did we take them (wrongly) for a laughing-stock, or have our eyes missed them? 63 Such disputes will certainly take place among the dwellers of hell fire. 64
