Could, then, one whose bosom God has opened wide with willingness towards self-surrender unto Him, so that he is illumined by a light [that flows] from his Sustainer, [be likened to the blind and deaf of heart]? Woe, then, unto those whose hearts are hardened against all remembrance of God! They are most obviously lost in error! 22 Allah has revealed (from time to time) the most beautiful Message in the form of a Book, consistent with itself, (yet) repeating (its teaching in various aspects): the skins of those who fear their Lord tremble thereat; then their skins and their hearts do soften to the celebration of Allah's praises. Such is the guidance of Allah: He guides therewith whom He pleases, but such as Allah leaves to stray, can have none to guide. 23 Then is he who will shield with his face the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you used to earn." 24 Those before them belied, and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not. 25 God made them suffer humiliation in this life. Would that they knew that the torment for them in the next life will be even greater. 26 And indeed We have put forth for men, in this Quran every kind of similitude in order that they may remember. 27 An Arabic Quran without any crookedness, that they may guard (against evil). 28 Allah sets forth an example: There is a slave in whom are (several) partners differing with one another, and there is another slave wholly owned by one man. Are the two alike in condition? (All) praise is due to Allah. Nay! most of them do not know. 29 Truly thou wilt die (one day), and truly they (too) will die (one day). 30 Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, will dispute. 31
