Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Quran) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment of Allah). 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
