The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
