The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
