Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
