The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
