He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
