Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Sky is cleft asunder; 1 When the planets are dispersed, 2 When the seas are poured forth, 3 And the sepulchres are overturned, 4 then everyone will know what he has sent ahead, and what he has left behind. 5 O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful, 6 Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical? 7 He moulded you into whatever shape He willed. 8 Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds). 9 Yet over you there are watchers, 10 Honorable recorders, 11 They know what you do. 12 Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight. 13 And indeed the sinners are in hell. 14 which they shall enter on the Day of Judgement, 15 And will not be able to hide from it. 16 And what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice! 17 How then can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
