The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
