We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
