Behold! Abraham said to his father and his people: "I do indeed clear myself of what ye worship: 26 except the One Who created me; and, behold, it is He Who will direct me to the Right Way.” 27 And he made it a word lasting among his posterity that haply they should return. 28 I gave them and their fathers days of enjoyment until the truth and a clear Messenger came to them. 29 And when the truth (this Quran) came to them, they (the disbelievers in this Quran) said: "This is magic, and we disbelieve therein." 30 And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns? 31 Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate. 32 And were it not that [with the prospect of boundless riches before them] all people would become one [evil] community, We might indeed have provided for those who [now] deny the Most Gracious roofs of silver for their houses, and [silver] stairways whereon to ascend, 33 And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And also adornments of gold. But all this were nothing but conveniences of the present life: The Hereafter, in the sight of thy Lord is for the Righteous. 35
