The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On lined couches, 15 facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
