The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
