The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
