The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
