Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
