Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the break of Day 1 and ten nights, 2 The multiple and the one, 3 Consider the night as it runs its course! 4 Is there in that an oath for a mindful man? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. 13 For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me." 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 Serene soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
