(O Muhammad), recite in the Book the account of Abraham. Most surely he was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 He said to his father, "Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent. 44 O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]." 45 He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you." 46 Abraham answered: "Peace be upon you. I shall seek pardon for you from my Lord. My Lord has always been kind to Me. 47 And I will withdraw from you and what you call on besides Allah, and I will call upon my Lord; may be I shall not remain unblessed in calling upon my Lord. 48 So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and each one of them We made a Prophet. 49 And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We left (behind them) a truthful mention of eminence for them. 50
