The people of Noah [too] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 105 When their fellowman Nooh said to them, “Do you not fear?” 106 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 107 So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 108 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being; 109 So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 110 ۞ They replied, "Are we to believe in you when your followers are but the lowest of the low?" 111 He said: And what knowledge have I of what they may have been doing (in the past)? 112 It is for my Lord to bring them to book, if you can understand. 113 I am not going to drive away any believers. 114 "I am sent only to warn plainly in public." 115 They said: "If you cease not, O Nuh (Noah)! You will surely be among those stoned (to death)." 116 [Whereupon] he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Behold, my people have given me the lie: 117 "Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me." 118 So We delivered him, and those with him, in the laden ship, 119 Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones. 120 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 121 Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 122
