The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
