The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
