He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
