And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no caring friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
