The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 They said: we believe in the Lord of the worlds. 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
