Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
