He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
