The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
