Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And linen spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
