The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the close of night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
