Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
