And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
