The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
