The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Mecca) 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan of near relationship 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
