The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
