By no means! By the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
