The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 you pay attention 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
