The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
