Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Woe to every backbiter, slanderer 1 Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); 2 thinking that his property will make him live forever. 3 By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, 4 And what could make thee conceive what that crushing torment will be? 5 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah, 6 Which mounts directed at the hearts. 7 Indeed it will be shut over them. 8 in columns outstretched. 9

True are the words of God the Almighty.
