The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
