He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
