The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
