The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
