The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
