۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
