Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HaMeem. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 AND YET, they attribute to Him offspring from among some of the beings created by Him! Verily, most obviously bereft of all gratitude is man! 15
