Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
