The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Book written 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the Visited House, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
