The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
